A 22-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped a 16-year-old lady was arrested on Monday and charged with raping the minor, police stated.
The alleged incident occurred on Could 10 when the lady was visiting her relative’s residence for a housewarming. She was allegedly “lured” away by the person, who was a neighbour of her kin, they stated.
Per week later, her mom lodged an FIR with the native Part 3 police station, alleging the lady’s kidnapping by the neighbour, recognized as Ashish Chandra.
“The FIR was lodged below sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping to compel for marriage) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused was apprehended on Monday close to the Parthala roundabout following a tip off,” a police spokesperson stated.
Prices below provisions of the Safety of Kids from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have additionally been invoked within the case, the spokesperson stated.
The accused was produced in an area courtroom, which remanded him in judicial custody, the police added.
