The Goa authorities has introduced a hike in Worth Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel with impact from Saturday, which can increase the worth of petrol by Re 1 and diesel by 36 paise, an official mentioned.
The notification on this hike was issued on Friday by beneath secretary (finance) of the state authorities Pranab G Bhat.
“The rise in VAT means petrol and diesel costs will go up by Re 1 and 36 paise, respectively. The present value of petrol in Goa is Rs 95.40 per litre, whereas it’s Rs 87.90 per litre for diesel,” the official mentioned.
Chief of Opposition and senior Congress chief Yuri Alemao referred to as it the act of an “insensitive authorities” and mentioned the hike have to be withdrawn instantly.
The Pramod Sawant authorities should curb wasteful expenditure as an alternative of finishing up such hikes, he mentioned.
